BSE Orissa Board Class 10th Results 2013, The results of annual high
school certificate (HSC) examination
were announced on April 30. The HSC exam was held from February 25 to
March 9. Around 5.3 Lakh students appeared for the examination in a
regular stream and around 50,000 students appeared in Ex-regular stream.
Also, the Sanskrit stream included over 5000 students sitting for the
examination.
Here is the detailed results analysis of Orissa HSC results 2013.
A record 73.11 per cent of the students have passed the High School
Certificate (HSC) examination 2013 with boys outshining girls across all
categories. The total pass percentage had jumped by more than 5 over
2012, when the success rate was 67.90.
The results declared by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) here on
Tuesday revealed an unprecedented surge among the regular category
students, who notched 76 per cent pass rate against 70.80 last year.
With a pass percentage of 78.07, boys outperformed girls, who achieved a
success rate of 74.02 pc. Last year, the pass-percentage among boys and
girls were 73.17 and 68.55 respectively.
Announcing the results, which did not feature the toppers' list for the
first time, School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda
attributed the good performance to successful implementation of reforms
both in school education and conduct of examinations.
Nanda said, ‘'For the first time in the Board's history, the results
have been announced in April, two months ahead of schedule. This
achievement goes down to revamp and streamlining of the entire system,
right from holding early examinations in February and following it up
with prompt evaluation. Own school centres and introduction of
question-cum-answer sheet have also been widely appreciated.
As many as 5,13,474 students had appeared for the regular category this
year of which 3,85,852 passed. Around 1,05,148 secured first division
while 1,27,209 and 1,53,202 got second and third divisions respectively.
The tribal students also secured significantly better results than last
year with a pass percentage 70 against 63.04 in 2012. Those belonging
to the Scheduled Castes were also not left behind posting a success rate
of 67.66 per cent, up by over 6 per cent from last year. Balasore
district was the top performer among the districts recording a pass
percentage of 86.97 followed by Jharsuguda at 85.39 and Sundargarh at
84.26. The worst performer was Nuapada district with pass percentage of
51.38.
In the ex-regular category, in which 54,937 students had appeared, a
success rate of 48.81 percent was recorded while the pass percentage in a
correspondence course regular and ex-regular were 49.14 and 36.31
respectively.
As many as 280 of the total 8,393 schools have secured 100 per cent
success rate while 51 schools will bear the ignominy of producing nil
result. About 5,020 students had been booked for malpractice this year
while results of 739 have been withheld.
Though the BSE has done away with the Top 100 list to avoid
controversies and problems, it will come up with a list of students
securing more than 95 per cent.
